Dhaka, March 25 -- Supreme Court lawyer Ruhul Quddus Kazal has been appointed as attorney general, the state's top law official.
The BNP National Standing Committee member and three-time secretary of the Supreme Court Bar Association will become Bangladesh's 80th attorney general.
A senior official at the Ministry of Law told bdnews24.com, "It has been approved. The notice will be issued shortly."
He succeeds Md Asaduzzaman in the post. Asaduzzaman had resigned to contest the 13th parliamentary elections as a BNP candidate. Since then, he has been appointed as law minister in Tarique Rahman's cabinet.
