Dhaka, March 14 -- National Citizen Party (NCP) Convenor Nahid Islam has demanded the removal and arrest of President Mohammed Shahabuddin through impeachment, accusing him of violating his oath and remaining silent during the July Uprising killings.

Speaking in Mymensingh on Friday, the Opposition chief whip in parliament described the president as a "fascist's accomplice".

"We will call for his swift removal through impeachment, the election of a new president, and his arrest. He has broken his oath, faces allegations of financial corruption, and was indifferent during the July [Uprising] 'massacre'."
