Dhaka, Feb. 27 -- Vegetable prices in Chattogram's kitchen markets have begun to slide after a sharp hike during the first week of Ramadan, bringing much-needed relief to consumers.

A visit to the city's Reazuddin Bazar on Friday showed that most vegetable prices have dropped by Tk 10 to Tk 15 per kg within a week.

Prices of broiler chickens and eggs have also seen a downward trend.

Retailers and consumers noted that prices typically soar at the start of Ramadan, only to stabilise as the month progresses.

"Supply is currently robust, and the initial rush of buyers has subsided," said Mohammad, identified with a single name, a retail seller at Reazuddin Bazar.
