Dhaka, Oct. 4 -- President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has called for raising the standards at the University of Dhaka to the level of the world's leading universities.

The president made the call when a delegation led by Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof ABM Obaidul Islam came to meet him at the Bangabhaban on Sunday.

According to the President's Press Wing, Fakhrul said: "Dhaka University is not only the country's top university, but also the centre of the country's politics, history, tradition and culture."

"Everyone must work to raise the standard of education at Dhaka University and take it to the level of the world's leading universities."
