Bangladesh, Aug. 18 -- Prof Mobasser Monem is set to step down as chairman of the Public Service Commission (PSC).

Monem is expected to tender his resignation on Tuesday, a commission member speaking on condition of anonymity told bdnews24.com.

The member said that more details would be known once Monem formally submits his resignation.

Attempts to reach Monem for comment were unsuccessful.

Monem, a professor in Dhaka University's Department of Public Administration, was appointed PSC chairman on Oct 9, 2024.

His appointment came a day after then PSC chief Md Sohrab Hossain and other members of the commission resigned following the change in government in the wake of the July Uprising.
