Dhaka, April 21 -- Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has sought to reassure newspaper owners that his government does not intend to create hostility with journalists or news organisations.
The remarks came during a meeting with leaders of the Newspapers Owners' Association of Bangladesh (NOAB) at the Secretariat on Tuesday.
Speaking to reporters after the meeting, NOAB President Matiur Rahman Chowdhury, said: "The most important thing is that we told the prime minister that he is walking on the path of liberal democracy, which is positive for Bangladesh. As newspapers and as media, we will support that path if it continues."
