Dhaka, March 25 -- Indian President Droupadi Murmu has extended her greetings and congratulations to Bangladeshi counterpart Mohammed Shahabuddin and the people on Independence Day, emphasising the need to bolster bilateral ties and regional peace.

She conveyed the greetings in a letter sent to Shahabuddin on Wednesday, a day ahead of Independence Day, which is also the National Day of Bangladesh.

The Indian president said, "India looks forward to working closely with Bangladesh to strengthen our bilateral partnership and advance regional peace, stability and prosperity."
