Dhaka, March 16 -- A Jahangirnagar University student, who recently filed a rape case against a former student, has alleged that she is being subjected to online harassment and blackmail, but police have reportedly refused to record a fresh case under cyber laws.
The victim claims the accused has been circulating her private photos and conversations on social media to humiliate her.
Ashulia Police Station officers allegedly declined to register a formal case, suggesting instead that the matter be treated as a general diary (GD) or handled through a court.
Ashulia Police chief Rubel Haolader said, "Not everything warrants a case; some matters result in a case, while others are recorded as a general diary."
