Dhaka, June 18 -- Additional Superintendent of Police Golam Saklain Shithil has been sent into compulsory retirement over allegations stemming from his relationship with film actress Pori Moni.

His compulsory retirement order was announced by the home ministry on Thursday.

The controversy dates back to Jun 14, 2021, when Pori Moni filed a case accusing businessman Nasir Uddin Mahmud of attempted rape and attempted murder.

At the time, Saklain was serving as assistant commissioner of police in the Gulshan division of the Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police.

He was assigned to investigate the case, during which he became acquainted with the actress.
