Dhaka, Feb. 24 -- A desperate father burst into the prime minister's office (PMO) in tears after learning his schoolboy son had been kidnapped. Within minutes, Tarique Rahman picked up the phone and ordered police to act -- and less than an hour later, officers stormed an unfinished building in Khilgaon to rescue the boy.
Masud Alam, deputy commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police's (DMP) Ramna Division, who was involved in the operation, told bdnews24.com that the boy is a ninth-grade student at National Ideal School in Khilgaon.
"He left the school around 2:30pm when four to five men intercepted him and took him to the seven-story building at Jorpukur," Masud said.
