Dhaka, May 2 -- Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has joined a civic reception in Sylhet after unveiling a flood protection and riverbank beautification project along the Surma.

The meeting began at 11:30am on Saturday at Chandni Ghat.

Commerce Minister Khandakar Abdul Muktadir, Labour and Expatriates' Welfare Minister Ariful Haque Choudhury, Prime Minister's Advisor Humaiun Kobir, and Sylhet City Corporation Administrator Quiyum Choudhury attended the event.

The premier's spouse, Dr Zubaida Rahman, was also present.

Earlier at 10am, Tarique arrived at Osmani International Airport in Sylhet and visited the shrine of Hazrat Shah Jalal (RA).
