Dhaka, June 2 -- The parents of 8-year-old Ramisa Akter testified before a Dhaka court in the case over her rape and murder in Pallabi.

On Tuesday, her father Abdul Hannan Molla and mother Parveen Akter gave detailed accounts of the events of May 19 before the Dhaka Metropolitan Child Violence Prevention Tribunal.

The testimony later continued behind closed doors when Ramisa's elder sister was called to the witness stand.

Hannan, the first witness, became emotional while testifying and was allowed to sit due to illness.

He told the court that on the day of the incident, he had left for work around 9:30am when his wife called him between 10am and 10:15am, saying Ramisa could not be found.
