One unit at Barapukuria Thermal Power Plant halts production again
Bangladesh, Aug. 14 -- Amid load shedding across the country, electricity generation at Unit 1 of the Barapukuria Thermal Power Plant in Dinajpur has been suspended again due to a mechanical glitch.
The unit stopped generating electricity at 11am on Friday, said Abu Bakkar Siddique, chief engineer of the Barapukuria Thermal Power Plant.
He said power generation from the 125-megawatt unit had been suspended after two pumps malfunctioned. One of the pumps had already broken down. After it was repaired and the unit was brought back into operation, the other pump also malfunctioned, forcing a complete shutdown of the unit.
