Dhaka, June 1 -- A child with measles symptoms has died at Mymensingh Medical College Hospital over the past 24 hours, taking the number of such deaths at the facility to 44.

In a statement issued on Monday, Senior Store Officer Dr Jhontu Sarkar said the 2-year-old child, who had been admitted on May 30, died while undergoing treatment on Sunday evening.

The child was from Dhara village in Haluaghat Upazila.

Since Mar 17 until Saturday morning, a total of 1,773 children with measles symptoms have been admitted to the hospital.

Of them, 1,627 have recovered and returned home.

Another 38 children were admitted with measles symptoms in the past 24 hours, while 45 were discharged after recovery during the same period.
