Dhaka, Sept. 26 -- Prof Md Nurul Islam of Jahangirnagar University's Department of Geography and Environment has been appointed vice-chancellor of the university.

The Ministry of Education's Secondary and Higher Education Division issued a notification on Saturday announcing the appointment with the approval of the president, who serves as the chancellor of public universities.

According to the notification, Prof Nurul has been relieved of his position as vice-chancellor of Dhaka Central University and appointed vice-chancellor of Jahangirnagar University under Section 11(1) of the Jahangirnagar University Order, 1973.
