Bangladesh, Sept. 4 -- New Delhi says it has "no specific updates" on whether Bangladesh Prime Minister Tarique Rahman will travel to the country to attend the BRICS summit.

Indian Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal made the remark at the ministry's weekly briefing on Friday.

Asked by a reporter whether there had been any communication from Bangladesh on the matter, he said: "Regarding Bangladesh's participation in the BRICS Summit, I have no specific updates to share at this moment."

The spokesperson was also mum on several recent media interviews by Bangladesh's former prime minister Sheikh Hasina, who fled to India after she was ousted from power in a student-led mass uprising.
