Dhaka, March 17 -- Inspector General of Police Ali Hossain Fakir has pledged zero tolerance for any wrongdoing, saying there will be no compromise on security during the Eid travel period.

The police chief made the remarks on Tuesday after visiting the Gabtoli Bus Terminal, as the seven-day Eid holiday began.

He said that while there is no specific threat surrounding the Eid journeys, police remain on high alert as criminal activity typically increases during the period.

"We do not have any information about any threat. Since the activities of criminals, including robbers, increase around the Eid journey, the police have stepped up their activity," he said.
