Dhaka, Sept. 28 -- A Dhaka court has denied bail to 27 people arrested following a police raid on the Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JaSaD) headquarters in Gulistan.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Nazmin Akter rejected their bail petitions after a hearing on Monday, according to Sub-Inspector Masum Mia of the prosecution police.

"The matter needs to be investigated," the judge said.

Police had detained hundreds of people during Saturday's raid on the JaSaD office before releasing 249 following identity checks. The 27 were formally arrested and sent to jail.

Paltan Model Police Station Sub-Inspector Nazmul Islam had petitioned the court on Sunday to keep them in custody.
