New Shahjalal radar boosts overflight revenue
Dhaka, Sept. 18 -- Government revenue from fees paid by foreign aircraft using Bangladesh's airspace has risen significantly, with aviation officials attributing part of the increase to improved surveillance following the installation of a new radar system at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.
An analysis of data from the past three years shows that overflight fee revenue increased consistently during the first five months of each year. Revenue in January-May this year surpassed the corresponding totals for both 2024 and 2025.
The figures are contained in a report recently published by the office of the executive director of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.
