Dhaka, June 14 -- Bangladesh Test cricketer Nayeem Hasan has decided to return to the field in a bid to recover more quickly from the physical and mental impact of his alleged assault and harassment by police.

His elder brother Kamrul Alam Sabbir said Nayeem is resuming cricket on the advice of doctors from the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB).

Speaking to bdnews24.com on Sunday afternoon, Sabbir said: "Nayeem left for Dhaka on a 4:30pm flight. The 'A' team has a match there tomorrow and he will take part in it."

"After that, he will travel to Sylhet, where a Test match is scheduled against Zimbabwe."

Sabbir said Nayeem is now in a "reasonably stable" condition.
