Dhaka, March 7 -- The stepfather of a teenage girl, whose body was found in a mustard field in Narsingdi's Madhabdi, has confessed in court to murdering her to cover up a previous gang-rape, according to police.

Narsingdi Superintendent of Police Abdullah-Al-Faruk shared their findings at a media briefing on Saturday.

According to the SP, the confession of the father, Ashraf Ali, came after the primary suspects in the case, Nur Mohammad alias Nura and Hazrat Ali, gave statements under Section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure.

The victim's body was recovered on the morning of Feb 26 from a mustard field in Darikandi of Madhabdi, with a scarf wrapped around her neck.
