Dhaka, Feb. 27 -- The case over the murder of a Narsingdi teenager has traced a two-week trail of horror, starting with an alleged gang rape on Feb 10 and ending in her abduction and eventual death.
The case also details how a politically influential family allegedly extorted money from the suspects to settle the matter and ordered the victim's family to leave.
Locals testified to the huge influence of the politician over the local migrant worker community.
Dhaka Range Deputy Inspector General Rezaul Karim Mallick and local MP Khairul Kabir Khokon visited the victim's family on Friday, promising a fair trial as protests flared in parts of Narsingdi and Dhaka.
