Musical instruments to get cheaper as budget proposes scrapping duty
Dhaka, June 11 -- The government has proposed to fully withdraw duties on musical instruments such as guitars, pianos, and violins, to support the development of music and encourage creative musical content.
The move could reduce the prices of these instruments and their essential parts.
Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury presented the budget for the 2026-27 fiscal year in parliament on Thursday.
In his budget speech, Khosru said the government aims to build a globally competitive "creative economy" by harnessing the talent and creativity of the country's promising young generation.
