Dhaka, Sept. 21 -- MP Gazi Nazrul Islam and his first wife, Maksuda Khanam, have been brought to court as police seek seven days to question them in a case over the alleged abetment of his second wife Mariam Khatun's suicide.

Police from Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station brought the two to the Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court at 2:22pm on Monday.

They were subsequently taken to the court lock-up.

"They have brought MP Gazi Nazrul Islam and his first wife Maksuda Khanam to court. They are being held in the lock-up," said Sub-Inspector Morshed Alam, who is in charge of the facility.
