Dhaka, May 16 -- The police superintendent of Moulvibazar has been relieved of his posting barely 10 days after taking charge, making him the third officer removed from a new assignment following scrutiny on social media.

Police Headquarters issued the withdrawal order on Friday, a public holiday, directing Riazul Islam to hand over charge to the next senior officer in Moulvibazar district before reporting to Dhaka on May 16.

No reason was given for the abrupt removal in the order signed by Inspector General of Police (IGP) Md Ali Hossain Fakir.

All three withdrawals stem from a single round of appointments.
