Dhaka, June 5 -- Three people have been killed and two others injured in a road crash in Brahmanbaria when a pickup van hit an autorickshaw carrying a family.

The accident took place around 8:30am on Friday near Biyalishhar of Ramrail Union along the Cumilla-Sylhet Highway, said Khatihata Highway Police chief Md Abu Taher.

Among the dead were passenger Josna Begum, her son Ashraful, and autorickshaw driver Mahbub, with the latter two identified only by their first names.

Josna's husband Kawsar, 50, and their 4-year-old daughter Adiba, who were also in the vehicle, sustained injuries and have been referred from Brahmanbaria General Hospital to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for further treatment.
