Dhaka, April 12 -- A suspected ringleader, facing several charges including murder, has been hacked to death by rivals during a violent turf war in Dhaka's Mohammadpur.

He was attacked around 4:30pm on Sunday near the Buddhijibi Road.

Emon was taken to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital, where he died while undergoing treatment, police said.

The victim has been identified as Emon alias Alex Emon, alleged leader of a teenage group named after him.

"A fight broke out between the Alex Emon Group and the rival Arman-Shahrukh Group over establishing supremacy in the area," said Jewel Rana, additional deputy commissioner of Mohammadpur Zone.
