Bangladesh, May 28 -- Eid-ul-Azha prayers have been held at the Gor-e-Shaheed Maidan in Dinajpur, with worshippers praying for the peace and prosperity of Bangladesh.

National Imam Association, Dinajpur President Maulana Matiur Rahman Qasemi led the congregation at 8:30am on Thursday.

Persistent downpours over the preceding few days had left parts of the 9.3-hectare open site waterlogged, casting a shadow of doubt over whether the main Eid assembly could go ahead at the venue.

The municipal authorities, however, quickly drained the pitch and made it fit for prayers as the rain let up on Wednesday, allowing thousands of people to join the congregation in a comfortable and peaceful environment.
