Dhaka, March 29 -- Joint forces have seized a significant quantity of illegally stockpiled fuel following a raid on the Jamuna petroleum depot in Mongla, Bagerhat.

The facility's manager has been suspended in the wake of the operation.

According to a media statement issued Sunday by Lt Commander Sabbir Alam Sujon, spokesperson for the Mongla Coast Guard West Zone, the operation commenced at 1am on Sunday.

The joint task force -- comprising the Coast Guard, Navy, police, National Security Intelligence (NSI), and the district administration -- targeted Jamuna Petroleum Ltd in the Mongla oil installation area.

The authorities found 12,613 litres of excess fuel illegally stored in three oil tanks at the facility.
