Dhaka, April 13 -- A Rangpur court has sentenced a man to death for the murder of a policeman in Rangpur.

Rangpur Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge Marzia Khatun delivered the verdict in the case on Monday afternoon.

The death row convict has been identified as 26-year-old Parvez Rahman Palash, who hailed from Haragach Thana.

The case documents say that Assistant Sub-Inspector Piarul was stabbed and injured by a drug addict Palash in the city's Shahebganj area on Sept 25, 2021. He then died while undergoing treatment at Rangpur Medical College Hospital. Police filed a case in two separate cases against Palash, one for murder and another under the Narcotics Control Act. He was then arrested.
