Dhaka, April 26 -- A Dhaka court has sentenced a man to death for killing his wife over dowry in Kamrangirchar in 2012.

Dhaka Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal-4 Judge Munshi Md Mashiar Rahman delivered the verdict on Sunday.

Rashedul Islam, bench assistant to the court, said convict Sayed Ahmed was also fined Tk 200,000.

The court ordered that the fine be realised by selling his movable and immovable property and handed over to the victim's son through the Dhaka district magistrate, he added.

Sayed was present in court when the verdict was announced. He was sent to jail afterwards.
