Dhaka, June 21 -- A Chattogram court has sentenced a man to life in prison in a murder case over the killing of a shopkeeper in 2017.

The court of Chattogram Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge Md Tajul Islam delivered the verdict on Sunday morning.

The convict Md Ismail Hossain Sujan hailed from Khanpur village in Noakhali's Sharifpur Union.

The court's Bench Assistant SM Kawsar Sagar told bdnews24.com, "As the charges against him were proven, the court has sentenced the convicted Md Ismail Hossain Sujan to life in prison while fining him Tk 50,000. Defaulting on the fine will add one more year to his sentence."
