Dhaka, April 24 -- A Malaysian military officer has been taken into police custody for five days for questioning in connection with a road accident that killed a 22-year-old Bangladeshi national.
International news outlets reported on Friday that the identity of the suspect, a 31-year-old officer, has not been officially released.
The officer was allegedly operating his vehicle under the influence of alcohol when he drove into oncoming traffic on the Maju Expressway (MEX), according to the Singaporean English daily The Straits Times.
Kua Lulumpur-based Malay Mail, citing Kuala Lumpur Traffic Police Chief ACP Mohd Zamzuri Mohd Isa, reported that the incident occurred at approximately 5:38am on Apr 23.
