Major grid fault triggers prolonged blackout across Narayanganj
Dhaka, June 7 -- A fault in the transmission line of the Shitalakkhya 132kV Grid Substation has left large parts of Narayanganj city and surrounding areas without electricity, disrupting daily life and causing widespread suffering amid intense heat.
The outage began on Sunday morning without any prior notice.
Kamal Hossain, chief engineer of Dhaka Power Distribution Company (DPDC) Narayanganj South, said: "A fault developed in a line at the Shitalakkhya 132kV Grid Substation, forcing the suspension of power distribution in the areas supplied from the facility."
DPDC said the Power Grid Company of Bangladesh (PGCB) was carrying out repair work on the affected line, but it remained uncertain when normal electricity supply would be restor...
