Dhaka, Sept. 24 -- A clash unfolded at Dhaka's Kuril after Jatiotabadi Chhatra Dal members detained several people from an Awami League procession and began beating them, prompting local residents to step in and pull them away.

Several hundred Awami League leaders and activists brought out the procession around 1pm on Thursday outside Jamuna Future Park at Kuril Bishwa Road.

During the procession, Chhatra Dal members detained four or five people and began beating them separately.

Local residents gathered and intervened, with nearby shopkeepers also joining them.

A video shows a 15- to 16-year-old participant being slapped, detained and taken away. Residents subsequently intervened.
