Dhaka, April 27 -- Five farmers have been killed and three others injured after lightning strikes hit haor areas of Sunamganj and Habiganj while a trader has died in Noakhali as Bangladesh enters the peak lightning season.
Police said three people were killed and three others injured in Sunamganj, while two deaths and one injury were reported in Habiganj on Monday, when the trader passed away in Noakhali's Hatia Upazila.
In Sunamganj, Jamir Uddin and Jamir Hossain died in separate incidents in Sadar Upazila in the afternoon, police said.
Abu Salek, 23, was killed in Jamalganj Upazila around the same time, according to a local Union Parishad chairman.
