Land depression weakening, cautionary signal maintained at maritime ports
Bangladesh, Aug. 14 -- The land depression over the West Bengal coast and adjoining areas is weakening and has shifted west-northwest.
It now sits over India's Jharkhand and the adjoining Gangetic West Bengal and is likely to move further west-northwest, gradually weakening further, the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) in a warning on Friday.
Its influence may lead to squally weather for Bangladesh's maritime ports, the north Bay of Bengal and the adjoining coastal areas of the country.
The sea ports in Chattogram, Cox's Bazar, Mongla, and Payra have been advised to keep local cautionary signal number 3 hoisted.
