Dhaka, April 19 -- A Dhaka court has sentenced two people to life in prison and a third to 14 years in jail for the kidnapping and murder of 11-year-old Shafiqul Islam aka Milon in Dhaka's Kafrul in 2008.

Two others have been acquitted in the case.

Dhaka Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal Judge Munshi Md Moshiar Rahman delivered the verdict in the case on Sunday.

Al Amin Ghorami and Masud Rana received life in prison. They were also fined Tk 100,000 each. Defaulting on the fine will result in another year in prison for each of them.

The court also sentenced another person, who was 15 years old at the time of the crime, to 14 years in prison over the kidnapping. In addition to the jail sentence, he was also fined Tk 100,...
