Khulshi police chief withdrawn over assault on cricketer Nayeem
Dhaka, June 14 -- Khulshi Police chief Md Arifur Rahman has been withdrawn from his post following a day of intense discussions regarding the physical assault and mistreatment of Bangladesh cricketer Nayeem Hasan.
Aminur Rashid, the assistant commissioner (PR) of the Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP), confirmed the development to bdnews24.com around midnight on Saturday.
Bakalia police chief has replaced Arifur, who has been attached to the police lines, said Aminur.
Asked if the decision is based on the incident involving Nayeem, Aminur said: "No, it is part of the regular distribution of responsibilities."
Earlier in the day, the CMP suspended two police personnel.
