Bangladesh, Sept. 8 -- A total of 627 workers and employees have been laid off from four companies of the Keya Group in Gazipur.

Gazipur Industrial Police Superintendent Mohammad Amzad Hossain shared the information on Tuesday morning.

In the morning, a list containing the names of the laid-off workers was posted at the main gate of the factories in the Jarun area of Konabari. Workers gathered in front of the factories to see the list, and a sense of quiet anger could be seen among the crowd.

Keya Group Human Resources Manager Sabina Yasmin told journalists, "All the dues of the laid-off workers will be paid in accordance with the labour law within 30 working days."
