Dhaka, April 5 -- Labour and Employment Minister Ariful Haque Choudhury has announced financial assistance of Tk 200,000 for each family of those killed and Tk 100,000 for the injured in a fire at a gas lighter factory in Keraniganj.

The minister made the announcement after visiting the factory in Kadamtali, which was gutted in the blaze.

According to a ministry statement issued at night, he also enquired about the cause of the fire and the extent of damage.

Later, he visited the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery, where he spent time beside injured workers and reviewed their treatment.
