Dhaka, June 28 -- The International Crimes Tribunal has sentenced three police officials, including former Dhaka Metropolitan police commissioner Habibur Rahman, to death in a crimes against humanity case over the the shootings of several people, including a young man hanging from the cornice of a building in Dhaka's Rampura during the 2024 July Uprising.

The tribunal also sentenced another police official to life in prison and a fifth to 20 years in prison.

The Tribunal-1 bench led by Justice Md Golam Mortuza Mozumder delivered the verdict in the case on Sunday.

The two other members of the bench are Justice Md Shafiul Alam Mahmud and District and Sessions Judge Md Mohitul Haque Enam Chowdhury.
