Dhaka, May 16 -- As protests continue to intensify over the alleged rape attempt on a female student on campus, the Jahangirnagar University Central Students' Union (JUCSU) has demanded the immediate arrest of the suspect.

Representatives of JUCSU and different hall unions held a press conference on Saturday afternoon, condemning what they described as delays in the investigation and arrest process.

Around 3pm, JUCSU General Secretary Mazharul Islam formally announced a five-point set of demands outside the vice-chancellor's residence, where demonstrations have continued for hours.
