Dhaka, Feb. 27 -- A local Jatiyatabadi Jubo Dal leader has been hacked to death in broad daylight in Khulna's Digholia over a "power struggle", with rivals accused of the attack.

The attack took place on Friday afternoon outside the Technical Training Centre (TTC) in Senhati, said Shah Alam, chief of Digholia Police.

The dead, Khan Murad, 45, served as senior joint convenor of Senhati Union Jubo Dal and was also involved in the dredging business.

Police and witnesses said Murad was returning home from Khulna city when several youths blocked his path near the Senhati Miapara Mosque.

He ran into a nearby shop for safety, but the unidentified attackers dragged him out and hacked him indiscriminately.
