Dhaka, May 17 -- Protesting students have locked the registrar's building at Jahangirnagar University, demanding the arrest of the person involved in the attempted rape and murder of a female student on campus and the resignation of the proctorial body.

They locked the main gate of the registrar's building around 10am on Sunday.

The protesting students said the law-enforcing agencies and the university administration had failed to arrest the accused five days after the incident.

Adrita Roy, a student of the Department of Drama and Dramatics, said: "More than 100 hours have passed, but there is no news of the arrest of the absconding suspect. Whether the administration is fulfilling its duties properly also remains a question mark."
