Dhaka, March 12 -- A journalist has filed a case against another media worker in Dhaka's Keraniganj, accusing him of circulating "private photos" and attempting to blackmail him.

NTV's Md Sheikh Farid lodged the case on Thursday with the court of Dhaka's Senior Judicial Magistrate Mahfuzur Rahman, said the plaintiff's lawyer Mir Alamgir Hossain.

The court recorded the complainant's statement and summoned the suspect Shamsul Islam Sonnet, the Keraniganj correspondent for MyTV, the lawyer said.

According to the case, Sonnet allegedly sent several personal photos of Farid to different people through Messenger on Feb 26 despite their friendship.

He also demanded money and threatened to publish the photos online, the complaint says.
