Dhaka, March 26 -- Jatiya Party Chairman GM Quader has called upon Prime Minister Tarique Rahman to take immediate action against "mob attacks" on suspects in courts.
In a statement issued Thursday afternoon, Quader described the culture of attacking accused individuals under police custody as "utterly contrary to the rule of law".
The Jatiya Party chief's remarks follow an incident involving retired three-star general Masud Uddin Chowdhury, who was arrested and ordered to police custody for interrogation on Tuesday.
Masud, a former lawmaker from Feni-3 and managing director of recruiting agency Five M International, was detained from his Baridhara DOHS residence.
