Dhaka, May 13 -- The Jatiya Party has reported an election expenditure of around Tk 500,000 for candidates contesting across 196 constituencies, a figure far below the amount permitted under electoral rules.

A three-member delegation of the party, led by Presidium Member Rezaul Islam Bhuiyan, submitted a statement signed by party chairman Golam Mohammad Quader to the Election Commission on Wednesday.

According to the Representation of the People Order (RPO), the party was allowed to spend up to Tk 30 million in the parliamentary polls.

Rezaul said the party does not give any donations to its candidates.
