Dhaka, May 1 -- Several senior leaders of Jamaat-e-Islami have said the party has yet to finalise mayoral candidates for the two city corporations in Dhaka, brushing aside rumours of Abu Shadik Kayem running for Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC).
The central committee office-bearers, however, told bdnews24.com that they were prepared for the elections.
Rumours have been circulating since Friday afternoon that the vice-president of the University Central Students' Union (DUCSU) will contest the DSCC election as a Jamaat-backed mayoral candidate.
The Thana level conference of Jamaat's Dhaka South city unit was held in Kakrail on Friday morning, when the divisional committees also held discussions, sources said.
