Dhaka, Feb. 28 -- Jamaat-e-Islami chief Shafiqur Rahman has called for divine intervention to extinguish the "wildfire of war" currently ravaging Iran and the wider Middle East.

In a Facebook post shared around 8pm on Saturday, the Jamaat chief offered a prayer urging the Almighty to restore stability and protect innocent lives as regional tensions escalate into open conflict.

"May Allah, in His infinite mercy, extinguish the wildfire of war spreading across Iran and the entire Middle East," he wrote.

Shafiqur prayed that all parties in the conflict could follow the teachings of the month of Ramadan - restraint, tolerance, and humanity.
